President Shahabuddin Resigns, Opening a New Chapter for Bangladesh

President Shahabuddin Resigns, Opening a New Chapter for Bangladesh After days of widespread speculation, Bangladesh has entered a significant new phase as President Mohammed Shahabuddin officially stepped down as the country’s 22nd President. His resignation letter was submitted to the Speaker of the National Parliament on Friday afternoon, where he cited serious health reasons as the basis for leaving office. Under Bangladesh’s Constitution, the Speaker of Parliament, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, will serve as Acting President until a new President is elected. The Speaker returned to Bangladesh earlier on Friday after cutting short an official overseas visit amid growing discussions surrounding the President’s future. According to the Constitution, Parliament is required to elect a new President within the next 90 days. For many Bangladeshis, this marks the beginning of a new political chapter. Citizens across the country and abroad are expressing hope that the transition will bring greater stability, accountability, and positive change for the nation’s future.
